A Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician—Level 1 is an individual who has obtained concurrent certifications as both ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician AND ACI Aggregate Testing Technician—Level 1.
Having obtained these certifications, this individual has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform, record, and report the results of a variety of laboratory procedures for concrete and aggregates.
Certification as an ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician—Level 1 demonstrates a working knowledge of the following ASTM and/or AASHTO practices and test methods:
As an ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician:
- C617 – Capping Cylindrical Concrete Specimens
- C1231 – Unbonded Caps for Concrete Cylinders
- C39 – Compressive Strength of Cylindrical Concrete Specimens
- C78 – Flexural Strength of Concrete (Using Simple Method with Third-Point Loading)
As an ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level – 1:
- T2 / D75 – Sampling of Aggregates
- T248 / C702 – Reducing Samples of Aggregate to Testing Size
- T11 / C117 – Materials Finer Than 75-µm (No. 200) Sieve in Mineral Aggregates by Washing
- T27 / C136 – Sieve Analysis of Fine and Coarse Aggregates
- T85 / C127 – Specific Gravity and Absorption of Coarse Aggregate
- T84 / C128 – Specific Gravity and Absorption of Fine Aggregate
- T255 / C566 – Total Evaporable Moisture Content of Aggregate by Drying
- T21 / C40 – Organic Impurities in Fine Aggregates for Concrete
Certification Requirements
There is no actual examination or application process for ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician—Level 1. Certification credentials will be automatically issued upon successfully obtaining concurrent certifications as both ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician AND ACI Aggregate Testing Technician—Level 1.
Certification for Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician—Level 1 is valid for a period of five years from the date of completion of all certification requirements.
